I completely disagree with this notion, because with the advent of technology, smartphones have become an integral part of everyone’s life.
The benefits of having a smartphone are that it provides convenience and efficiency. So, banning them in public areas is not an appropriate solution. In other words, people use them for paying quickly, finding products easily, or using discount apps. Mobile phones are the primary means of connecting people with each other, regardless of their locations. For instance, individuals can access real-time tracking of public buses and can book cars for their trips. Therefore, this technology has given us freedom and made our lives very comfortable.
However, there are some arguments in favour of banning smartphones in open spaces. Initially, using mobile phones in public venues is annoying because of the disturbance. To explain this, any sudden ringtone from smartphone can distract the attention of the bus driver, resulting in unexpected consequences. Additionally, using phones in public areas to take photos or record videos violates the privacy of others. People feel uncomfortable if they are unknowingly being filmed or photographed. For instance, many actors complain that they are chased and harassed by paparazzi in public areas, making them uncomfortable.
To conclude, although there are some reasons to ban smartphones in certain places due to noise disruption and safety concerns, there are also significant benefits of using smartphones as they provide convenience, efficiency, and connectivity. Therefore, instead of putting a blanket on mobile phones in public places, people should be guided to keep them on silent mode, so that they do not disturb others.
