It is claimed that family members are the ideal examples who contribute much more on individuals in their pursuit of success than the academic environment at school. In this essay, I would present the reasons why I think this is not justified.
Examining one facet, proponents of this opinion might contend that being nurtured in a family with the tradition of developing careers in professional settings facilitates the potential benefits of homeschooling. This means that parents have the ability to tailor education to a child’s strength and weakness based on their own approaches and specialized expertise, as well as align specific career for their kids to pursue as a passion. As a result, children would achieve the robust foundation served for particular occupation and set a clear aspiration to follow their family’ footsteps; thus, they subsequently thrive and prosper in the same fields as their parents, leading to monumental achievements in their lives. For instance, learning from family traditionally working in healthcare system can provide children with medical expertise which offers them solid conditions to become successful doctors or nurses in the future.
However, the role of general education at academic institution like school should not be underestimated. First and foremost, it is not the successful stereotype for all families to develop their career in professional fields, as children can also gain success in a multitude of different career paths. In contrast, schools would equip individuals with general as well as specialized knowledge in a wider scale, allowing them to become well-rounded and work with their preferable jobs while pursuing the ladder of success. Aside from knowledgeable aspect, school’s environment also plays a pivotal role in helping students obtain peer connections and essential skills which drive them to become competent candidates in their future job or further social positions through teamwork and extracurricular activities, for example.
In conclusion, although in some cases, success in life may come from invaluable lessons of family members, the contribution of officially educational system should not be overated for its well-rounded training. Therefore, I do believe that family would rather shine in its real-life experiences and traditional values while school would bring about academic coverage and crucial skills in catalysing to personal success.
