A generation ago, people could usually survive on a single job; in most families, only one member worked for the whole family, and they could survive easily without hardship. However, now the working infrastructure and environment are completely different, and employees cannot depend on a single job. New technologies and automation are taking people’s jobs by replacing them, with globalization and recession being significant factors. This essay will examine this perspective and, before concluding, try to identify the possible causes for this frequent change in employment trends.
The reason behind this lies in technology, which is changing day by day, as we can see something new coming into the market every day. Automation and AI machines are replacing human jobs because they automate most tasks that are repetitive and required an entire team of humans. In addition, due to recessions, companies are inclined to work with freelancers who can provide the exact amount of work needed at a feasible cost. For instance, in finance and medicine, algorithms now conduct analyses that once required entire teams and can now be done by artificial intelligence and machines.
If I want to suggest what can help people in the future, we have to make some effective changes in every aspect of life and tend to learn new technologies and skills. For example, in schools, we need to arrange proper classes and create a syllabus that is aligned with the modern working structure, such as coding, machine learning, and programming skills. Governments and private firms should also start proper training models for their employees so they can learn and stay up-to-date with upcoming technologies and skills. Moreover, universities should also do their part and update their courses timely so they can match future job demands easily. For example, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science are the new undergraduate and graduate courses which are perfectly aligned with the future job market.
In conclusion, we have to understand that eventually, the job market is no longer the same. New technologies and machines are replacing employees’ roles. We have to upgrade our skills and learn new things which are in demand to help us secure our jobs.
