Globalization has positively impacted the world in numerous ways. Even though it has helped many sectors and countries flourish, some people condemn it thereby obstructing global development. I believe that globalization has mostly been beneficial but there are two sides to this change.
Bringing the world more close has many advantages for the advancement of humans. The ability to travel quickly from one country to another has made it possible for citizens of any country to seek employment elsewhere to earn more money and live a better life. For example, an underpaid nurse in Africa can choose to work in the UK where the salary is higher and the working conditions are superior. Furthermore, through the internet transfer of knowledge and technology has become instant. Hence, any information can be sent immediately anywhere across the globe. For instance, a doctor in the UK can guide a surgery via video call in a war-stricken country and save lives without compromising her safety.
On the hand, increased connectedness can also pose some problems. When international companies enter a country, they disrupt local businesses. If importing onions is cheaper than producing them locally, the domestic farmers will lose income and suffer as the consumers will opt to buy inexpensive products. Moreover, global growth has led to swift spread of diseases worldwide. A recent example of this is Covid, which spread around the globw within weeks causing catastrophe.
In summary, global proliferation has brought people and nations closer than ever before. While accelerating human progress, it has resulted in minor flaws as well. In my view, globalization has been largely favourable.
