Band 7+: With the rise of remote work, some argue that physical offices will become obsolete. Others believe that offices are essential for collaboration and company culture. To what extent do you agree or disagree that physical offices will remain important in the future?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

There is a widespread belief that regular offices and co-working places will become unnecessary, as distanced work is gaining popularity. Other individuals, in contrast, are convinced that physical spaces are crucial, if workers are gathering in teams or creating innovations. In this essay, I will discuss both of the viewpoints and decide on which is more beneficial in terms of efficiency and costs.

On the one hand, traditional offices are almost emptying, since remote jobs seem to be dominant in the labour sector. Since fewer employees require in-person communication in their work, it appears to be an economical burden for companies to build physical offices. For organizations, it would be more beneficial to allocate budgets to more essential expenditures, such as providing technology or distributing computers and laptops for workers. Individuals who work online may therefore become more productive, if their devices are of high quality. However, it is almost inevitable for workers to attend workplaces atleast fitfully, because they should stay in touch with coworkers and employers,

On the other hand, office areas can be an essential part of working communities, as they provide space for discussions and co-operation. Individuals can organize meetings and gatherings in order to implement various ideas and plans, thus making their work efficient and productive. Furthermore, special spots for working can significantly contribute to the emotional atmosphere of companies. For example, meeting in offices could make working processes more enjoyable, if colleagues there create close bonds and friendships. A positive emotional state in groups can be important for the general output of organizations.

In conclusion, although traditional spaces can become obsolete due to their financial expenses, I firmly believe that they help people to do their jobs productively and make the process more of pleasure. Another reason for the offices is that they can affect community’s overall mood.
