Today, as we all know, maintaining good health is the key to living a long and fulfilling life. Health, from both a medical and mental perspective, directly correlates with nearly every aspect of an individual’s life, whether it is their career, financial stability, or social relationships.
In order to stay healthy and maintain a beneficial lifestyle, it is unfortunately necessary to have sufficient financial resources, as well as the time and energy to do so. In many parts of the world, access to medical treatment is not universally affordable. For instance, in countries that do not offer free healthcare, individuals with low incomes, particularly families, often prioritize other essential needs over medical care, even when it is urgently required. Furthermore, with inflation placing an increasing burden on society, it has become more challenging for people to afford nutritious, unprocessed foods. As a result, many turn to cheaper, highly processed alternatives that can be detrimental to their health. With inflation expected to rise further in the future and governments showing reluctance to reform healthcare systems, it is plausible to argue that the overall standard of public health will decline.
On the other hand, recent major events related to health, such as the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, have significantly altered public perceptions of health’s importance. During that period, many families tragically lost loved ones due to the rapid spread of the virus. Individuals living in unsanitary conditions were particularly vulnerable. This devastating experience served as a wake-up call for society, emphasizing the necessity of maintaining good health practices. Since the pandemic, there has been a noticeable change in public behavior. For example, the use of hand sanitizers has become more prevalent, proper handwashing habits have been reinforced, and face masks are still used in certain regions to prevent the spread of infections. These developments suggest that society is now more conscious of health and hygiene than ever before.
In conclusion, while the COVID-19 pandemic has increased awareness of hygiene and health maintenance, economic challenges such as inflation and the rising cost of living threaten the public’s ability to prioritize health. Therefore, although efforts have been made to improve health awareness, financial and systemic barriers may lead to a decline in the overall health standards in the future.
