Many countries today are facing a situation where the countryside is losing people because many villagers prefer to move to the cities. In my opinion, this trend has both positive and negative impacts, but overall it is more negative for society in the long term.
On the positive side, moving to the city can give rural people more opportunities. Cities usually offer better jobs, higher salaries, and more access to education and health services. For example, many young people from small towns in my country move to the capital because they want to study at better universities or find modern office jobs. This can improve their quality of life and help them support their families back home.
However, the negative effects are also quite serious. When too many people leave the countryside, these areas become empty and undeveloped. Farming, which is very important for food supply, may suffer because there are not enough workers. Villages can also lose their culture and traditions since young people are no longer living there to continue them. At the same time, cities become too crowded. This causes problems like traffic jams, pollution, and higher living costs. Many people who move to the city end up living in small rented rooms and face a lot of stress.
To sum up, although urban migration can bring better chances for individuals, I believe it creates more problems for the country as a whole. To reduce these issues, governments should invest more in rural areas so people do not feel forced to move away.
