The most important factor in shaping the behaviors of children and teenagers is the peer pressure exerted by their friends. Often, the opinions of friends take precedence over the decisions made by their parents.
To begin with, young people frequently find themselves influenced by those in their age group. This has become a norm. In our developed society, everyone tries to be equal to and surpass one another, which leads to the imitation of each other’s actions. While there are benefits to this dynamic, such as making more friends, establishing close relationships, and fostering mutual understanding, it also has its drawbacks, which I will discuss further.
Secondly, young individuals often go everywhere with their friends, disregarding their parents’ advice. This can be dangerous, as it may lead them to harmful environments or associate with negative influences, ultimately altering their behavior. Furthermore, some children may suffer as a result of mimicking the actions of others. For instance, when I was in school, my friends and I would often sit together in the dining room instead of attending class. I wanted to learn, but my friends would distract me. This is a concerning trend, as peer pressure can negatively impact our education and development.
In conclusion, while peer pressure can foster connections and social skills, when misused, it can significantly hinder personal growth, particularly through educational attrition
