For example, In laboratory projects, scientists insert cancer or disease genes directly to healthy mice simulating the conditions of ailing humans to test the interaction of drug use. Consequently, those animals will possibly suffer from pain, disability or even face death in the experiment, raising the question of how cruel humans are. Moreover, some scientists want to take one more step further in this field by applying genetic manipulation on humans to only produce to the superior generation with high intelligence and outstanding beauty. Many thinkers worry that this radical change will lead to people who are no longer either physical or psychological human.
On the other hand, I believe that genetic engineering has undoubtedly improved social benefits in general. Regarding agriculture, genetic alteration has helped farmers to increase both quantity and quality of plants and crops in an economical way. The technology in agriculture is spilling out the underdeveloped countries, relieving the threat of famine in those countries. Besides, thanks to the application of genetic engineering into creating new medicine, humans have managed to develop the treatment for numerous hazardous illnesses. The most remarkable success could be named as various types of vaccine creation and the production of insulin for diabetic treatment. In the recent Covid 19 pandemic, to develop vaccines at such astonishing speed to save millions of lives, all need to thanks to the usage of genetic engineering in science.
