Band 6+: Research has shown that the transportation of products and people is the main source of pollution. Some people believe the government should be in charge of this, while others believe that it is the fault of individuals. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

Researchers have analyzed how goods are transported and the way we travel are the primary cause of pollution. Some people voice the opinion that this matter belongs to national authorities, while I hold the belief that it is the responsibility of individuals.

Some people think that the main issue causing pollution from transportation lies within the operation of governments. To be more precise, this is because of the neglect of infrastructure from governments leading to traffic congestion. For example, in developing countries like Vietnam, there are too many narrowed and bumpy streets causing traffic jams. As a result, when vehicles are stuck in the traffic, there will be a lot of emissions released into the atmosphere.

On the other hand, I argue that pollution of the environment derives from an absence of awareness of the public. To be more specific, they tend to opt for private vehicles instead of public transportation when they travel to work. As a consequence, the amount of carbon dioxide emitted from the burning of fossil fuel from vehicles like motorbikes will lead to global warming. For instance, Vietnam is the top country that uses the most private vehicles per family and that is the reason why the level of greenhouse gases in central cities is extremely dangerous.

In conclusion, some individuals think that the primary cause of pollution is from governments as they do not invest in the infrastructure of the countries, while I strongly believe that this problem is caused by individuals’ lack of awareness.
