Some individuals are of the claim that the costs of fuel need to increase in order to solve the world’s environmental issues. Personally, I partly agree with this suggestion based on some major reasons that are explained further in this essay.
On the one hand, fuels are one of the pollutants cause the world’s environmental issues. Rising fuel costs lead to decreasing fuel consumption. This is because if fuels price are high, people might tend to use public transportation because they want to save their money. Consequently, this solution would reduce the emissions which harm the environment. For instance, the quantity of vehicles in Vietnam dropped significantly since the government decided to increase fuel costs in 2013. Moreover, in Cambodia, most residents choose electric cars due to the high cost of fuel
On the other hand, increasing fuel cost is not the best way to solve the environmental issues. Firstly, emissions from vehicles is not the main reason because approximately 64% emissions of total is observed in factories and other activities such as agriculture. Secondly, fuel has a high cost also impacts negatively on people because they need it to drive to work. Furthermore, the fuel cost is also influence the price of other products. Therefore, if the government has a bad policy, it will negatively affect the finance. Instead of raising the fuel cost, the government should encourage people to use green energy such as wind, and solar in factories. For example,Japan’government encourages people to use solar systems and nuclear power, thus this country also has a good price and environment.
In conclusion, although raising the fuel cost is an impeccable way, it also has numerous drawbacks. We can use other solutions to solve the world’s environmental issues more effectively.
