These days, many individuals are of the opinion that decreasing obesity can result from teaching people lessons about consequences of being overweight. However, others state education can not solve the problem. In my opinion, although both schools of thought offer merits, I agree more with the former statement based on the following reasons.
On one hand, there are some major rationales that explain why people believe education can help decrease the rate of obesity. Firstly, being obese can be a result of having bad awareness about the consequences of this. To be more specific, people nowadays do not fully comprehend the effect of diseases stemming from being overweight, such as heart attack or lack of physical abilities. For instance, when people have been overweight for a long period, they easily get heart attacks or they can not join activities that require physical capability. Secondly, lessons about nutrition can be implemented into the curriculum, teaching people the good diet that they could have since they were adolescents. This can positively affect people’s weight when they can adjust their diet based on knowledge from these lessons.
On the other hand, some people argue that education can not solve this issue. Firstly, with people, who have bad background about socio-economy, they hardly to live in a healthier way when the price of food had good nutrition are significant high, being unaffordable to these people. For instance, the amount of money that is spent on vegetables in some developed countries, such as America, has been growing recently in each household, forcing families with low income to rarely buy these products. As a result, the rates of people who suffer from obesity have become the main issue in developed nations.
In conclusion, although there are some factors that strongly affected people’s diets ,such as the price, Education are still one of the most crucial aspects to helping many nations decline obesity.
