The line graph illustrates the average number of Vietnamese students studying in three different countries (France, Russia, and America) over a period of 15 years, from 2000 to 2015. As reflected by the y-axis, the number of students is represented in millions.
Overall, it can be seen that the number of students going to America rose steadily, while the number of students going to France and Russia showed a decline over the period. France was at the highest position among all in the initial period, whereas America was highest in the last period.
In detail, the number of Vietnamese students in America was around 1.5 million at the initial stage in the year 2000. It showed a steady increase to 2 million in 2005, 3 million in 2010, and increased by 2 million in 2015.
In contrast to this, the figure for Vietnamese students studying in Russia stood at 3 million in 2000. After that, it went down gradually to around 1.8 million in 2010 and rose to around 2.4 million in the last period. A similar trend can be seen for France. At the first stage, France had the highest number of students from Vietnam compared to the other two countries (at 3.5 million). Later, it declined by 1 million in the next five years (from 2000 to 2005) and remained stable between 2005 and 2010. Furthermore, it showed a significant rise in 2015, at 4.5 million.
