It is widely believed that universities ought to accept an equal amount of male and female students. I believe that providing equal opportunities for both genders is worthy, yet it is not always possible.
It is important to have gender equality in education. When both boys and girls can study what they want, it makes society more fair. For example, if more girls study engineering or science, they can get better jobs and help the country develop. Also, when men and women work together, they can share different ideas and learn from each other.
However, sometimes equal numbers are not realistic. Some subjects are more popular with girls, like nursing or teaching, and others with boys, like engineering. If universities must have the same number of men and women, some students may lose their place even if they have better marks. This is not fair and can make people unhappy.
In my opinion, universities should give equal opportunities, but not force the same numbers of boys and girls in every subject. Students should study what they like and what they are good at.
