Band 6+: Some people think that modern communication technology has a negative impact on our social relationships. To what extent do you agree or disagree with this?

Note: Both the topic and the essay were created by one of our users.

Nowadays, as many serious problems have been caused by modern communication technology, some people firmly believe that these tools are having a detrimental impact on social relationships. However, in my opinion, social media applications still play an important part in our daily life. This essay will thoroughly explain my perspectives.

To begin with, it is apparent that communication tools have caused a lot of issues to our society recently, nevertheless, we can’t deny the positive benefits which they have brought to us. Initially, modern technology supports us to keep in touch with our friends, even when we don’t have a face-to-face conversation with them. For example, people tend to make use of Facebook, Instagram, or TikTok, … to connect with others because of its fast, convenience and time-saving. Especially, in our busy life today, social media tools are becoming more and more popular to many citizens. In another case, modern communication technology contributes expanding social relationships. It’s also appropriate for the introvert individuals by removing their own barriers. As a consequence, they will be more open and active to connect with other people.

On top of that, social media also have a vital role in our society today. Firstly, it promotes an active world by giving more opportunities for inhabitants to improve themselves. Indeed, people are likely to boost their knowledge or information that are occuring everyday. A research has demonstrated that 90% of citizens using social media to get daily news rather than watch newspapers. On the other hand, many coporations prefer contacting with their partners online to having face-to-face conversations because of their busy schedules and daily tasks. By that way, they are able to strengthen the relationships, improve cooperations and finance.

In conclusion, it’s true that online tools might lead to some pity breakdowns, but we can’t claim that they only bring negative effects. Social media has already modernized our world and promoted the economic development by many ways. I disagree with the topic above and advise people to use modern communication in a plausible way.
