Nowadays, it is increasingly common learning a new language. Although al lot of people argue that it is not necessary to learn other language if it is not related to work or study, others, however, argue that there are various reason why people should learn a different language. In my opinion I believe the latter argument is correct.
Those who say, learning a language should only be for work or study, they say that learning a language is so hard and involves huge time-consuming effort. Spending years to learn a language is not acceptable when it doesn’t have any practical benefit. For example, it is found that most of the people learn Korean just from their obsession with K-pop or BTS, and they don’t even use that in real life.
On the other hand, some people believe in this changing life pace when we can face any unwanted difficulties in any stage of our life, we should learn other language even if it does not seem mandatory for now. We absolutely don’t know what coming next in our near future. For instance, the Ukraine war forced huge number of Ukrainian people to move around the world. In this case, the people who know other language like English and Germany are clearly having a good language skill and that is helping them to survive more than the people don’t know.
In conclusion, even though huge number of people just say language learning is just waste of time if it is not applicable in work or study, huge number of people stand with argument that it might be work as a backup for difficult times, which is my opinion.
