The maps illustrate the changes that took place in the layout of coal mine and it’s improved layout after redevelopment to attract visitors.
Overall, the layout of coal has mine experienced significant alterations and become more recreational with emergence of driving truck track, picnic area and children’s playground. In addition, introduction of foot path has improved accessibility across the site.
Talking about before changes, the coal mine served for employees with many facilities. Firstly, there was staff’s changing room with an office to the South part of the map and a parking lot in the other site of the map. Meanwhile, there was a medical room at the center of the map between a mine entrance and a lorry park. Moreover, there were two waste pits in easternmost part of the map.
After the changes, the coal mine turned into more recreational area. While the parking lot remain intact the stuff’s changing room has been replaced by the museum. In addition, the place the café has located, was previously occupied by the medical room. Furthermore, main entrance was turned into completely for visitors after changes. Other alterations included the construction of the foot path including the driving truck track and the picnic area. Lastly, the waste pit has been replaced by the children’s playground.
