There is a dilemma among individuals regarding whether to befriend those who share similar opinions, or those who have contrasting viewpoints. In my view, having friends with differing perspectives is more beneficial. Each type of friend has its own advantages and disadvantages. In this essay, we will explore both perspectives and my personal opinion on the matter.
Some individuals argue that befriending like-minded people reduces the likelihood of conflict and strengthens relationships. Firstly, individuals with similar opinions are able to make decisions swiftly due to their shared thinking, thereby fostering long-term, harmonious relationships. Moreover, they engage in various activities such as travel, sports, and other leisure pursuits, and provide each other with support in these endeavors. For instance, they may accompany each other to the gym, participate in yoga classes, attend music or dance events, and spend leisure time together.
Conversely, diverse viewpoints can sometimes lead to increased success but may also result in disputes. Specifically, individuals with differing perspectives can assist their friends in resolving major issues and contribute to business growth, thereby preventing potential errors and saving time and money. Analyzing dilemmas from different angles can contribute to stability in life. However, it can also occasionally lead to disputes and strain friendships and pursuits. For example, conflicting viewpoints on business development or travel planning may lead to disagreement.
In conclusion, both types of friendships have distinct advantages and disadvantages. The aforementioned arguments make it evident that friends with differing ideas can contribute to a more secure life. Therefore, in my opinion, the suitability of either type of friend depends on the individuals involved.
