The issue of divergence from a healthy style of life into excessive dependence on medicines as well as doctors is multifaceted. In my opinion, people should foster a sense of a healthier lifestyle rather than unnecessarily looking up to medical professionals and pharmaceuticals.
Despite the arguments in favor of medical help for a healthy way of life, I assert that people eating a healthy diet and taking regular exercise are more likely to remain in good health. Firstly, a good diet can improve the body’s immune system as it provides the necessary nutrients to upregulate the activities of immune cells. Another point in favor of a healthy lifestyle is that it helps prevent illness caused by dietary issues and environmental factors. For example, several cancers have been linked to foods containing artificial substances and adulterants, which dysregulate the natural functions of our bodies. Furthermore, taking exercise regularly can allow a person to stay fit, as it enhances the body’s bones and muscles. Having a sound body also improves cognitive functions and helps people in professional sectors that require intellectual abilities.
Conversely, consulting with professionals can also be helpful in the context of leading a healthy life. An argument in favor of that is that medical personnel can provide better guidance to people compared to their self-guided lifestyles. For example, they can plan out which diet and supplements would be more suitable for a particular individual than other options available in markets, as different people have different metabolisms. Moreover, for individuals with a specific medical condition, taking professional help is mandatory rather than devising their own lifestyles, which could otherwise lead to worsening conditions.
However, over-reliance on doctors and medicines can also have detrimental consequences. First of all, companies might manipulate doctors to promote their products, which may not actually have any health benefits. Depending too much on such products while overlooking the necessary uptakes of natural nutrients may detrimentally affect consumers’ health. At the same time, people who rely too much on such supplements tend to foster a false sense of good health, which affects their health conditions in the long run.
