It is often true that many people support that employers should not give interest to the unified dress code of their employees but the most critical is their work efficiency. From my perspective, I totally disagree with this statement for several reasons.
A valid reason is that wearing a uniform could foster solidarity and help employees feel that they belong to a big team. Therefore, they might give more and work hard to achieve their personal and group tasks. Moreover, many companies request from their staff to wear unified clothing to enhance the companies’ image, especially in international meetings and conferences. As a result, they may foster a spirit of belonging, and it could be easily recognized by clients. This could create a positive impression about the company’s service and brand.
Another reason to consider is promoting more dress flexibility might negatively affect work performance for several reasons. Initially, clothing style might provide many safety precautions and protect workers from a variety of potential accidents and hazards. For example, employees at any research laboratory or research company should wear their lab coats to protect themselves from any toxic or hazardous contamination. If clerks did not wear their safety coats, they would be infected by some pathogens. Furthermore, more freedom to employers in choosing the way they dress can be a source of distractions. To illustrate, workers might pay attention to what they are wearing and their appearance instead of improving their work quality and effectiveness.
By way of conclusion, while many companies have flexible dress code and give all their interest to productivity, I hold the notion that uniforms are vital for the company’s image safety and sense of teamwork.
