A highly competitive environment has both good and bad sides for studying and working. Some people believe it helps them achieve more, but others think it causes serious problems. In my opinion, the bad sides are more important than the good ones.
One good thing about competition is that it motivates some people. When there is competition, people often try harder to reach their goals. For example, students in schools with high competition may study more and focus better because they want to get higher grades. At work, competition can also push people to improve their skills, work faster, and be more productive. This can sometimes lead to success for those who enjoy competing and are not afraid of challenges.
However, the problems with competition are more serious. First, too much competition can create a lot of stress. When people always feel the need to be better than others, they often worry about failure. This pressure can hurt their mental health. They may feel anxious, tired, or even depressed. Second, competition often leads to burnout. Burnout happens when people work too hard and feel exhausted. For example, many workers in the 21st century experience burnout because they feel they must always perform at a high level. Burnout can also make people feel guilty if they are unable to keep up with the speed of others.
In conclusion, even though competition can sometimes motivate people to do better, it creates bigger problems, like stress and burnout. That is why I think it is better to focus on teamwork and balance instead of having too much competition.
