Nowadays, people consume more processed food than they used to in previous years. This is because processed food is easy to prepare but this has bad effects on health.
The consumption of processed food has been increased because it takes less time to prepare than traditional food. Most people work long hours and return home in the late evening being tired so, all they want is to relax and rest. Consequently, they do not have energy and enough time to be in the kitchen for several hours to cook rather they prefer ready-to-use meals, which do not require their time and energy to prepare. For example, a recent study showed that processed food use has increased over the past 10 years in major cities where people work longer hours.
As a consequence of consuming lots of processed food, people are more likely to have health-related issues. Processed food contains significant amounts of carbohydrates, sugar and fat that could lead to many serious illnesses like diabetes, hypertension, heart diseases and so on if consumed frequently. In other words, eating lots of processed food is like ignoring the food that is the source of nutrition, vitamins and iron which are important for our body to be healthy. For instance, many people who consume processed food regularly are more suspicious of suffering from various types of diseases compared to those who only eat traditional food.
In conclusion, recently people have become more attracted towards having processed food compared to the past days. Convenient while preparing is the main reason behind its popularity however it has many negative impacts on one’s health.
