Overall, the percentage of both men and women who used social media everyday experienced an upward trend. While the number of people who used it once a week or few times a week decreased in both categories. Interestingly, more women in 2014 never used social media compared to the 2011; contrastingly, the proportion of men in this category decreased.
In 2011, only 25% of males used social media everyday, by 2014 this number increased twice, resulting 45% of constant users. The percentage of men who used social networks once a week (12%) or few times a week (19%) in 2011, slightly decreased by the end of the period. Consequently, only 9% used it once a week, and 16% few times a week. The proportion of those who never used a social media in 2011 was 44%, while in 2014 it become 30%.
Regarding women, in 2011 only 8% of them never used a social network, however by 2014, this number increased to 22%. The proportion of females who used it once a week dramatically decreased, falling from 39% to 10%. Similarly, the number of people in ‘few times a week’ category, shortened from 22% to 9%. The percentage of women who used social media everyday increased from 30% to 59%.
