In general, it is clear that teachers’ salaries were the highest percentage of total school spending in all three years, while other workers’ salaries witnessed a noticeable decrease. In addition, other categories changed a lot.
Moving into the details, in 1981, the highest proportion of the budget was on teachers’ salaries compared to the other categories. Other workers’ salaries accounted for 28%, while both resources and furniture and equipment had the same percentage, with 15%, respectively. Insurance had the smallest rate at only 2%. By 1991, teachers’ salaries increased to 50%, while the proportion for other workers’ decreased to 22%. Spending on resources rose to 20%. However, furniture and equipment experienced a slight decrease to 5%. Also, insurance spending slightly increased to 3%.
By 2001, teachers’ salaries were still the largest rate, with 45%, but 5% smaller compared to 1991. The rapid increase was on furniture and equipment to 23%, while the proportion for other workers’ salaries decreased to 15%. Also, resources saw a sharp decline to 9%, but insurance moderately rose from 3% to 8% between 1991 and 2001.
