The line graph illustrates the proportion of secondary school teachers aged under 30 in Brazil, Luxembourg, Japan and the Czech Republic between 2010 and 2017.
Overall, the percentage of young teachers in Brazil increased steadily and eventually surpassed the other three countries, while Luxembourg experienced the most dramatic decline. Japan and the Czech Republic also saw downward trends, though less sharp compared to Luxembourg.
In 2010, Luxembourg had the highest share of teachers under 30, at nearly 20%, followed by Japan (around 18%). The Czech Republic recorded about 14%, while Brazil had the lowest figure at only 6%. Over the following years, Luxembourg’s proportion fell consistently to just 5% by 2017, marking the lowest among the four nations. Japan also witnessed a drop from 18% to around 9% in the same period.
By contrast, Brazil showed continuous growth, rising from 6% in 2010 to approximately 15% in 2017. This steady increase allowed Brazil to overtake all three other countries from 2016 onwards. Meanwhile, the Czech Republic fluctuated slightly around 14-15% until 2013, before experiencing a slow decline to about 13% at the end of the period.
