The given bar charts illustrate the percentage of 14-16-year-old boys and girls in a selected English-speaking country who learn one of top three modern foreign language namely French, German, Spanish in two years 1984 and 2007.
Overall, it is clear that there are more girls know a second laguage outweighed that figure of boys. Additionally, it is undeniable that the most popular option was French, while a little of them choosed Spanish.
Looking at the graph in more details, it can be easily realized that the number of girls studied second language is much higher than boys. However, both of them experienced a decreased trend. In 1984, nearly 50% of girls broaden their language knowledge, which dipped into 40% in 2007. Similarly, the ratio of boys knew a second laguage went down slightly from 30% to nearly 25%.
Furhtermore, there are varied laguages that teenagers learned in that country. Notably, half of the student learned French in 1987, but it declined to nearly 20% in 2007. Starting at 20% in 1987, the number of students studying German dropped to 15% in 2007. Controversially to the following, the number of Spanish learners faced a steady increase. In 1987, only neatly 5% students choosed Spanish; however, 10% of them learned this language in 2007.
