Overall, the percentage of people having no qualification in a scientific field was the highest in both countries examined, with the figures for Malaysia being higher than those for Singapore. It is also clear that considerable differences are not seen in the figures for those in both countries having master’s degrees.
Approximately 65% of Malaysian citizens said that they had no qualification in science, compared to 60% of people in Singapore. Notable differences can also be seen in the figures for those taking school leaving exams, which were 35% for Malaysia and 30% for Singapore.
The percentage of people living in Singapore who had a bachelor’s degree was 20%, which was double that of their Malaysian counterparts. Meanwhile, the figures for people gaining master’s degrees in Malaysia were similar to that of those who lived in Singapore, which were both at about 4%.
