The line graph illustrates the cost in Euros of 800 grams of four different breads in an European nation over a period of four years, starting from 2001.
Generally, the price of three types of bread such as brown, white and rye had an upward trend while wholegrain’s cost had a downward trend. As for the price concerned, the lowest cost was the rye bread over the period researched.
The initial year recorded the largest price belonging to the wholegrain with 0.8 euros per 800 grams of bread, after that peaked at 1.8 euros in the next year. A significant decrease of over 1 euro was witnessed in the wholegrain’s cost in 2004, but later rose slightly to initial value by 2005.
It can be seen that the brown, white and rye bread had the same price as 0.6 euros in the first year of the period. The year 2002 recorded a sharp increase of nearly 1 euro in the brown bread’s cost, then fluctuated between 1.4 and 1.6 euros. The white bread experienced a gradual growth to over 1.2 euros in price throughout the period. In contrast, the rye bread’s cost declined slowly to 0.5 euro by 2002, before climbing to initial value in the next year and stood at that cost for 2 years. The rest of the period recorded that the rye bread’s price went up slightly to nearly 0.8 euro for 800 grams.
