The pie charts provide a breakdown of energy production for one country from various resources in two separate years: 1985 and 2003.
Overall, it is evident that oil production remained the largest producer of energy in both years. We can also see that the energy that is produced by natural gas and coal saw significant increases.
In 1985, oil share in energy production showed the highest percentage, standing at 52%, while nuclear energy accounted for 22%, as the second major source of energy in that year. The figure for natural gas stayed at 13%, while energy from coal accounted for just 8% of all energy production. The percentage of energy from hydro sources showed just 4%, and only 1% of energy was provided by other renewable sources.
In 2003, the share of energy produced by oil resources declined by 13%. Natural gas production saw a noticeable increase in its share of the energy, standing at 23%, and easily overtook nuclear energy, which decreased by 14% in 2003. Coal’s role in energy production experienced a rise and stood at 22%. Energy provided by the hydro source remained at the same rate, while energy from renewables increased from 1% to only 4%.
