The bar charts illustrate the average monthly rainfall (in mm) in Brazil, in two of its cities, Brasilia and Salvador, in 2016.
Overall, rainfall in Salvador was higher than in Brasilia, particularly between April and September. Salvador’s rainfall fluctuated throughout the year, with a high peak in April, while Brasilia experienced a dramatic decrease in rainfall between January and July, followed by a resurgence in the last months of the year.
In Salvador, the rainfall fluctuated over the year, starting in January with around 150 mm of rain. This amount then increased until it reached the highest peak of 300 mm in April. Precipitation saw a slight decrease until August, where it was practically steady for the following months, and in December had a slighly increase of around 180 mm.
On the other hand, Brasilia began the year with more rainfall than Salvador, with 200 mm in January, but between February and June, the precipitation fell until reaching the month with the least rain of the year, July, which recorded just below 50 mm. In August, the downpour experienced a resurgence, reaching about 100 mm. In the next months, the average of rainfall increased to reach again 200 mm of precipitation in December.
