The given maps depict the changes, which occured in a coastal town, Pentland, between 1950 and 2007. It can be clearly seen that the area developed a lot in the given period of 57 years.

First of all, the new road was construted in the southern area of the city which crosses the main road. The several shopping areas on the north side of this newly built road and a cinema as well as the housing estates were established in the southwest and southeast corner of the city were appeared respectively.

While the main transformations occured on the left side of the main road in the northern west region, which include the demolition of the industrial area and replacement it with facilities such as a park, a swimming pool, and a multi-storey car park with access between each of them. Furthermore, the car park on the opposite side of the road was replaced by the apartments. Also in 2007, the coastal region of the city was modernised with the establisment of a yacht marine on the sea in the southern region of the Pentland.
