The diagrams illustrate some proposed changes to a school library from the last five years to the present.
It is clear that the principal change to the library is the differences in functional areas. In addition, currently, various other developments regarding more facilities have been added and there is less blank space.
Five years ago, the library had a simple layout. On the upper right-hand side, a long desk was reserved for computer usage. On the opposite corner, there was a spacious area. Two bookshelves stood on the front and back of the library, with four private studying tables in between. On the west end, there were three adjacent rooms: a classroom, a meeting room, and a borrowing and returning room.
At present, more facilities have been accomplished, with the most dramatic change taking place on the east of the library. The computer desk in the top right corner is now used for student’s laptops, while the library office has been replaced by a conference room. There was no change to the northern bookshelves but those on the south have been demolished to make way for another laptop desk. In the middle of the library, two more sets of tables have been added next to the old ones to cater to more visitors. On the left-hand side, the meeting remain untouched whereas the borrowing and returning desks near it were separated into two rooms. Furthermore, the classroom was converted into a recording studio.
