The bar chart illustrates the ratio of 4 types of films and their ticket sold in every cinema in a country in 1996 and 2000. Overall, more drama movies have been made than any others, however, comedy is still chosen the most by the audience. Furthermore, romance movies were this country’s least popular type of film.
In the first year of this survey, 1996, drama films took the lead with more than 26%, the second place belonged to comedy with approximately 20%, and fantasy stayed behind with about 12% and romance at nearly 7%. In 2000, the ratio of drama, humor, and fantasy sharply increased to respectively 35%, 25% and more than 17%, while the number of romance movies remained stable.
On the other hand, comedy appeared to be the most favorite movie type in the cinema, with about 20% of ticket sales in 1996 and more than 23% in 2000. Furthermore, drama and fantasy experienced the same trend, the ratio of ticket sales for drama movies moved stably from 15 to 16% in 1996 and 2000 while fantasy movies were respectively about 3% and 7%. By contrast, the percentage of tickets sold for romance films fell from 5% to around 2% in 2000.
