The line chart displays the variations in price of 4 selected varieties of bread in euros per 800 grams across the time span of 6 years between 2001 and 2007.
Overall, it is immediately apparent from the graph that 3 types of bread, namely rye bread, white bread and black bread, underwent an upward trend, whereas wholemeal bread saw a plunge with a significant fluctuation within the given time period. Another interesting point to mention is that wholemeal bread lost its predominance in its market value over time, letting black and white bread take the lead of first and second place relatively.
To begin, wholemeal bread had an initial cost of approximately 1,9 euros in 2001, and within the period of 1 year, results declined dramatically up to 0.6 euros. From then on, the market price of the mentioned kind of bread started to rise moderately, achieving a charge of nearly 1.3 euros in 2005. However, in the next two years wholemeal bread saw a downward trend and decreased to roughly 0.8 euros in 2007. Rye bread, which had the lowest cost of bread throughout the time, started off with a price of 0.3 euros in 2001 and grew to nearly 0,5 euros in a year. Undergoing little variation, it rose to 0.6 euros in 2005. Rye bread had a significant dip in 2006, however after a year climbed to the result of 0.6 euros.
Switching to the types of bread with an increasing trend, black bread, which started off with the result 1.8 euros in 2001, had an insignificant dip in 2002, declining to nearly 1.6 euros in 2002. Climbing up to the initial cost of 0.8 euros in 2004, the next year black bread saw a second dip, decreasing in price by 0.2 euros in 2005. Finally, it rose up to its peak at 2 euros in 2007, taking the predominance in the chart. In addition, white bread, which had an initial cost of nearly 0.8 euros in 2001, rose to the price of 1 euro in 2002. From then on, this type of bread saw an insignificant downward trend until 2004, and from then on, it started to rise gradually, reaching the highest charge of 1.6 euros.
