The line chart illustrates contribution of three different methods namely, streams, downloads, and CDs to sell music during a period of 7 years, commencing in 2011.
Overall, it is evident that all categories, except for streams, experienced a substantial decline. Noticeably, the sale of music through streams emerged as the highest by the end of the period. And the role of CDs reduced constantly.
Analysing the increasing trend, the share of music scale through streams began with only about 5% in 2011 and gradually increased to 20% in 2015. And subsequently, reached slightly above 40% in 2018.
The CDs played a significant role in early years and was a major contributor in selling music. However, a declining pattern can be observed, when it consistently decreased reaching to approximately 25% in 2018. In contrast, the share of downloads escalated to around 42% in 2014, before witnessing a gradual fall, settling at 30% in the final period.
