It is evident from the data that employment was in a positive trend and the choice of higher education decreased gradually over a span of 30 years. However, the rate of unemployment remained fluctuating.
The number of youngsters choosing to work demonstrated a growth trajectory, it started at 40% in 1980 and gradually raised to 50% in 1990 and 55% in 2000, making this the most chosen activity after leaving secondary school. On the other hand, the ones who chose to advance in studies showed a negative trend. in 1980, almost half the group chose further studies, which reduced drastically to only 38% in 1990 and eventually declined to 37% in 2000.
Unemployment remained unstable throughout the period, it stood at at rate of 10 % in 1980 and ascended to 12% in 1990. Suprisingly the rate of unemployment droped to 8% in 2000. Ultimately the Australian youths get employed instead of advancing in education which can bring drown the level of literacy in the future.
