The pie charts reveal information about the percentage of Australian users on three social media platforms in 2011. The data were selected according to age groups and measured in per cent.
Overall, there was a significant difference in the proportion of Austrian social media platforms users in different age groups in 2011. One of the striking features is that Facebook and YouTube were used by the majority of young people belonging 18-34 group whereas Twitter was more preferred by 35-49 years old people. In addition, these applications were not common for elderly people who were over 65 years old.
Regarding Facebook and YouTube, the figures given for people aged 18-34 appeared to be by far the largest one, with 29% and 30%, which were followed by that of Australian people aged 35-49 and 10-17. Actually, these figures were found to be 28% , 19% in Facebook and 26%, 20% in YouTube, respectively. Meanwhile, the percentage of Australian users belonging 50-64 age groups was 14% in Facebook, which 1% lower than that in YouTube. Nevertheless, the lowest proportion of Australian users was found to be on 65+ age group, with 10% and 9%.
In terms of Twitter, it was more common in people aged 35-39, with 40%, which was followed by that of 18-24 and 10-17 age brackets, with 29% for the former and 18% for the latter. Similarly, the lowest figures were observed in older age groups, with 9% people belonging 50-64 group and only 4% in over 65 years old people.
