The pie charts depict the proportions of five different foreign languages chosen by students in the UK during the years 2009 and 2014.

Overall, French was the most chosen language, which comprised more than a quarter, while the fewest students liked the Russian communication style in both years.

First of all, in 2009, 43% of students chose French. However, it decreased by 9% in 2014. The second most favorite language was Italian, which stood at 20%. Moreover, the percentage of students who selected Spanish was 16% in 2009. In 2014, it increased by 4% and remained in the second-highest position, but the percentage of Spanish speakers rose significantly to 24%, equaling Italian.
