The maps illustrate alterations made to the layout of a natural history museum over a 4 year-period, from 2010 to 2013.
Overall, during renovation period the museum had undergone a huge development, with the introduction of human origins display, shops, and cafes. The former plan of museum had garden with plenty of tree that was later cut down to expand the building.
Looking at the western side of the museum, initially it had a moderate appearance. Entrance to the building was situated at the south, after entering the building there were ticket desk, lobby and ocean hall on the north side of the layout that were maintained over the period. The mammals exhibition room was transformed into ice age exhibition area with the small room dedicated for insects on the left bottom corner. Below the mammals room dinosaur hall was located which is kept same over the period without changes.
Moving to the east of the plan, garden has been reconstructed into a building. In a cylindric shape there is a human origins display currently and mammals exhibition room is moved to the north of it. Shop and cafe are built as a neighbouring rooms at the south of the new building.
