The two maps illustrate the layout of the South Wing of Walton Museum in 2008 and after it was refurbished in 2012.
In general, the south wing was completely transformed, with several new facilities added to enhance its service. In addition, the building was expanded, and now it had four floors.
Before redeveloped in 2008, it is noticeable that the south wing consisted of only two floors. The ground floor featured two main rooms: the reception and the reading room. Furthermore, on the second floor, visitors would enjoy a special exhibition room on the west side, walk east to explore the cloakroom, and buy crafts in the shop, located in the central area.
By 2012, the south wing had become more advanced, replacing the stairs to a lift, giving it a modern look. Starting from the path to the first floor, the visitors could take pictures on the terrace. Since the museum added a new restaurant, the visitors could spend their time enjoying tasty food. Then, the museum also offered them a self- service room and divided the exhibition rooms into two: the special exhibition and the exhibition. Furthermore, those with children might leave them in the children’s play area.
