The provided plans offer an illustration of the South Wing of Walton Museum recorded in 2008 and 2012 after it’s renovation.
Overall, it is evident that there have been major transformations in the facilities and amenities, with the construction of new areas in the building.
Examining the layout in 2008, there was an entrance that led to the reception desk on the first floor, next to a reading room on the western side. There were an exclusive exhibition room, a shop and cloaks room on the ground floor. Visitors can enter these areas by using the stairs between the shop and the cloaks room.
By the year 2012, the South Wing had undergone significant modifications in its overall infrastructure, with a four-storey building being reconstructed. While the path led to the entrance hall remained stable, the cloaks room had been moved to the reception for better convenience. There was a lift installed to get access to different floors in the building. The second floor consists of a restaurant, a self-service room, and there was also another exhibition room on the top floor. Notably, the facilities on the ground floor were predominantly kept unchanged, with only the replacement of the children’s play area on the western side.
