The diagram compares the past layout of a particular school library five years ago with its current floor plan.
Overall, the school library has undergone significant changes, the most noticable among which is the introduction of desks for students’ laptops, recording studio and conference room at the expense of book shelves, classroom, library office and desks for computers. It is also noteworthy that the area study has exhibited more focused-individual desks rather than shared studying tables.
Looking first at the center of the layout, two book shelves located in both the northern and southern areas; however, only northern shelves remain, as the southern ones has been removed to make space for desks designed for students’ laptops. Five years ago, this area encompassed four collective studying tables, whereas in its current plan these have been replaced with six private studying tables, indicating a greater emphasis on individual study.
Regarding the outer sections of the library, on the western sides, a classroom previously located above a meeting room has been converted into a recording studio, while borrowing and returning desks, combined in the past, have been divided into two separate rooms. On the opposing side, desks for computers, which were established at the north corner, are now converted into additional desks for students’ laptops, and the office library is simultaneously altered by a conference room.
