The table represents information about rail transport image in four countries for the year 2007. The table mainly focuses on the number of users, passenger kilometres per head and the amount of cargo carried.
Japan had the highest in number of rail users with 27 million people using the service, while USA records of the lowest at only 0.3 million. The UK and Italy had similar numbers, with 5.9 million and 5.5 million users.
Passenger kilometre per head were also highest in Japan, reaching nearly 1,980 km which is more than double the UK’s and Italy’s figures of 770 km and 780 km. The USA has lowest with just 80km per head. In terms of Cargo the USA transported the largest with 2,820 billion of tons. Japan, UK and Italy have carried much less.
It is clear from the table that Japan passenger rail usage while USA and focuses on cargo section. The UK and Italy are moderately present in both categories; but fall behind Japan of passenger kilometres per head.
