The table displays data regarding the students of six different departments in an Australian university in 2011.
Overall, it is apparent from the table that the largest number of female students studied in English language department while the least percentage of them were from Chemistry department.
In 2011 English department was the dominant one among others including 72% of female students. Modern languages department took the second place with 68% of students. The next one was Physics section that female students show high interest, at 56%. Following it History department involved 52% of students, only four percent lower than physics. The last two departments, math and chemistry were the lowest ones compared to other four departments. Math was 17% and chemistry was just 15%.
The biggest percentage of students whose native language was not English was in math department at 49% and they also showed the largest number of international students at 56%. In the next department 45% of History students were not native speakers of English and 31% of them were not Australian. Similarly, 42% of Chemistry students were not from English speaking countries and 48% of them were from outside of Australia. The students from Physics showed 38% of non-native English speakers and the percentage of individuals who came from other countries was the same as math, at 56%. In contrast, learners from Modern languages had only 16% of non-native speakers, including 23% of learners from outside of Australia. The least proportion of students whose first language was different studied in English department at 12% and there were only 20% of foreign students.
