The table compares the proportion of labour employment in six areas in Russia in years 1999 and 2010.
Overall, manufacturing accounted for the highest employment rate, while tourism was ranked last. Most fields of work witnessed an increase in the percentage of workers over the given period.
In 1999, 15 percents of employees were employed in manufacturing, which was almost 4 percents more than in retail and above 5 percents in health care, which were ranked second and third respectively. Among the least ranked fields were education with 6.o percents of workers and tourism with five and a half percents. In fact, manufacturing had three times as much workforce as tourism sphere.
Over the following 11 years, the rate of workers in declined significantly and it dropped to third place with 9.8 percents of labour force. Retail also increased decrease by almost 2 percents. All other industries followed the opposite trend and experienced growth by 1-2 percents. Health care became the leader of labour market in 2010 with 11.3 percents. Despite growth, tourism remained the least popular industry for russians.
