The table illustrates the percentage of women in five countries – Australia, Egypt, Sri Lanka, Japan and the United States – in two employment categories: labour force participation and managerial positions.
Overall, Japan recorded the highest proportion of women in the labour force, while Egypt had the lowest figures in both categories. In contrast, Australia and the United States showed the highest percentages of women in management roles.
In terms of labour force participation, Japan led with 48%, closely followed by the US at 46%. Australia and Sri Lanka shared the same figure, at approximately 42%. By comparison, Egypt had a significantly lower percentage, at just 20%.
Regarding managerial positions, Australia and the United States topped the list, both at 43%. Japan ranked third with 17%, while Egypt accounted for 12%. Sri Lanka had the smallest proportion of female managers, at only 9%.
