The data below gives information on how many hours of television is consumed by kids across various countries, as well as the average level of academic success of the citizens of those countries. Overall, the tables show that the USA, Canada, and the UK have the highest number of hours of watching TV, while Malta and the UAE have the least numbers. In conjunction with this, it is shown that across the various levels of school, the countries with higher hours of watching TV have a greater percentage of people completing school, high school, and University except for Malta and UAE which are the exception.
The first table shows that American, Canadian and United Kingdom children watch the highest amount of television per day at 4 hours, while the children of the UAE and Malta spend the least amount of time watching television at 1 hour. Other countries like India, China, Italy, and Brazil have their children watching TV for only two to three hours per day.
However, the second table showed that those countries with children spending more time watching TV have higher rates of completing the three levels of education. For instance, the USA, Canada and the UK having over 85% completion rates. Likewise, the percentage of people in these countries who also complete University are the highest among the group of countries presented with Canada having 39%, Canada with 32% and the USA with 29% completion rates.
The exception is seen with countries like Malta and the UAE, with children only spending 1 hour in the day watching television and having very high completion rates in school (100% and 98% respectively), and high school (100% and 92% respectively) but lower rates of university completion (18% and 19% respectively). However, the country with the lowest percentage of people completing University overall is India, with only 12% completion rate.
