It has become a debatable topic about the exploitation of animals by human beings. Some people think that the cruelty of people towards animals is not acceptable, while others consider that they should be utilized as means of food and medical testing. Although there are some strong arguments on both of these sides, I would side with the latter group of people for some reason.
On the one hand, some of the activists claim that animals should have the same rights as mankind because of ethical considerations and animal welfare. To be more precise, they have the capacity to feel pain suffer and experience emotions like people. Furthermore, according to animal liberation, all animals as living creatures have a right to live. So, it is illegal to slaughter or poach animals for their meat, skin, and other valuable organs as it may cause habitat destruction. As a consequence, people who fight for animal rights claim that animals should not be a to which serves for human needs.
On the other hand, practical necessities and scientific or medical advancements are the reasons of other people who are on the side of animal exploitation. They believe that the use of animals for survival such as food, transportation, and clothing comes from ancient times. So, it is impractical to eliminate the use of animals from human society. In addition, animals are indispensable parts of medical advancements to test the safety of some products or treatments. For instance, in the pandemic period, when people were fighting with the death, scientists did some experiments on animals to check the safety and effectiveness of vaccines, after which they were used to treat people. Consequently, it can be somehow cruel, but the use of animals is important to guarantee the health of human beings.
In conclusion, there is a view that animal exploitation should no longer be allowed due to ethical considerations and animals welfare. However, I believe animals should be used in lab testing to find a treatment to cure some dangerous diseases.
