In the 21st century, one of the major challenges for humankind is rising sea levels due to intensifying global warming. According to Scientists, the soaring of the earth’s temperature is caused by a huge number of deforestation and continuous reliance on unrenewable sources of energy. This essay discusses these two factors and what viable measures are to prevent the lifting of sea levels and global temperatures.
The southern hemisphere is home to almost the whole tropical forest which plays the role of the “earth lungs” by producing most of the earth’s oxygen. In addition, the tropical forest also serves as the guardian of the earth from the threat of global warming and its subsequent impact on the sea. However, the global south nations have been struggling with the deforestation issue in recent years, as economic growth and natural resource exploitation lead to a considerable demand for tropical forest products as well as forest clearance for housing purposes. This problem can be solved by a government effort to impose some bans on forest clearance and strict mapping of conservation forests. Prevention of the forest decline will help earth cope with the increasing temperature and loss of a vital source of oxygen.
Moreover, the problem of exceeding usage of unrenewable energy such as earth gas, crude oil, and coal is one of the main factors contributing to the rocketing earth’s temperature and rising sea levels. The industrial and transportation demand for these energies is something unavoidable because alternative sources of energy have not been fully-invented and implemented to replace these highly carbon energies. In this case, a serious effort to develop earth’s friendly energy is a priority to halt the usage of unrenewable energy by investing more in research and development of efficient and green energy such as botanic-source of energy, household waste gas, and solar-based energy.
In conclusion, deforestation and reliance on unrenewable energy are two main factors contributing to global warming. In this case, the government should prioritize prohibiting land clearance on tropical forests and try to find free-carbon energy.
