In many societies, it has been increasingly common for people to prioritize modern western clothing rather than threir own traditional garments. While it is true that western attires are globally influenced, I believe that national dress has more cultural significance.
Well, there are some solid reasons for why the majority prefers western fashion over their own traditional clothes. This is largely due to its ease of acess; elements of western fashion can be found literally everywhere across the globe. The western culture’s influence has been increasing since the period of Industrial Revolution, and the thechnological advancements have just accelerated the process of Westernalistion. Additionally, its comfort and practicality makes it an obvious choice for the every aspect of modern daily live. It is suitable for any event, be it a school, workplace, or even party. Thus, more and more people are giving their favour for the western clothing intead of their own traditinal clothes.
There are sevaral reasons why I would argue that is a negative development. First of all, traditional clothing carries centuries of history, values, and art. Replacing it with jeans and hoodies risks to erase cultural heritage, especally among the younger generation which may lose touch with their roots. Secondly, western clothing may promote global equality and make people feel more modern or accepted internationally. But it can also create pressure to conform, making those in traditional outfits feel outdated or “less cool.” Finally, clothes are the expression of who we are. Losing traditional fashion can dilute a nations identity – people may begin defining themselves through global trends instead of their own cultural uniqueness.
